3 Tips to Make Your Brochure Stand Out

Tri-Fold Brochure

Whether you're printing a brochure for a Las Vegas trade show, for direct mail or to leave behind after a meeting, you're up against some stiff competition for your client's attention. As a full-service Las Vegas printing company, we recommend to keep in mind the following when designing your brochure:

Leverage Brand Look and Feel

Much thought has gone into creating a brand identity of your company. Your brochure is in essence the extension of the brand so it should use the same brand elements, such as colors, fonts and overall look and feel to connect with the right demographic. Knowing your brand and your goals also helps you select the right fold. Are you representing a luxury product? Choose a narrow format with lots splash graphics and white spaces. Sending mailers? Go for a z-fold. A classic tri-fold brochure is always a popular choice.

Make White Space Count

When writing copy for a brochure you don't get extra points for extra words. The idea is to make an impression and pique your perspective clients' interest. One of the best ways to do that is to help them quickly zero in on what's important by framing it with white space. This space doesn't have to be white per se – it's any space, or "air," that's not filled with copy and photos. It makes your brochure breathe and entices your reader to absorb the few pieces of information on the page. Little white space leaves your reader overwhelmed and by association, makes them feel that working with your company will be overwhelming too. We want ease and satisfaction.

Details Matter

One of the easiest ways to make your brochure stand out is to give it a few design details that would grab your clients' attention. Paper, for example, can turn even a boring design into a memorable piece. From simple stock to specialty textured paper, choices are virtually endless. Consider techniques that will also add unusual effects. Letterpress, for example, allows letters and design elements to be pressed into the paper, creating a custom look. Die Cut creates irregular shapes by cutting and is great for unusual effects. Varnish adds a layer of glossy effect and is particularly dramatic when applied to individual elements of a design.
